Flushed Quran Still Clogs Brains

Yesterday, thousands of Islamic protesters marched again to protest the alleged flushing of the Quran at Guantanamo Bay. Today, protestors spat on the American flag and threw tomatoes at pictures of W (why didn’t I think of that?). Every time you turn on MSNBC, Fox, CNN or even freakin’ MTV, someone is talking about desecration of this book. On MSNBC yesterday morning, one talking head was saying that in Saudi Arabia, it’s illegal to practice Christianity and that airport security will shred your copy of the Bible. I haven’t heard of any right-wing Christian fundamentalist taking to the streets of Bovina, Mississippi to protest this. Which leads me to one conclusion: if I’m defending right-wing Christians, then Muslims really are annoying.

Let’s say for a moment that the Quran did get flushed. All it says is that the people who did it are immature and arrogant. Imagine that: people behaving badly. It doesn’t mean that they were acting on orders from George W. Bush himself.

Damn it, you protestors, look at what you’ve caused me to do: it sounds like I’m defending Bush. Hell just froze over.

Not that any of those protesters are reading La Blogda, but if they were, here’s the message I’d like them to have: The Quran is just a book with no empirical data, just like the Bible. It’s paper and glue with ink on it. It’s not a life. Now if they had tried to flush a detainee down the toilet, well then, protest on. But for now, have a mojito and move on.
